Why it's worth your time
Divjakë-Karavasta National Park protects the Karavasta Lagoon — the largest in Albania — along with a belt of pine forest and a long sandy beach. It's one of the most important wetlands on the Adriatic, and best known for its colony of Dalmatian pelicans, one of the largest pelicans in the world.
You can walk or cycle the forest, climb the observation points for views over the lagoon, take a boat out with a local guide, and finish on the beach. It's a very different day out to the Riviera: flat, green and full of birdsong.
